January Stamp a Stack

Special Folds

My first stamp a stack for 2010 will have the theme of "Specially folded cards".

The first type (left) is called a "gatefold card" and opens up from the middle with two flaps on either side. It is held together by tucking underneath the oval sentiment. We will use blender pens and watercolours (optional) for matching your stamps to your card colours.

The second style is a "triangle trifold card" and opens on the diagonal, held together by ribbon.

We will be making 5 of each style on the night. The colours will be varied. If you have a colour preference, if you let me know early enough I can get you the colours you like and possibly the patterned paper you prefer as well (for the trifold card).

In both cases the stamps used are interchangeable allowing different styles of cards to be made on the night.

Come along for a relaxing night of stamping/socialising.

Hope to see you there!

Date - Monday 25th January 2010
Time - 7.30
Cost - $15 or $18 including envelopes which you can stamp to match your cards
RSVP - 11th January 2010 to give me time to order and make up packs

These were the cards we made at the November 09 stamp a stack class. The left was a variable card - different colours and patterned paper in order to make a variety of different types of cards.

October Stamp a Stacks

October stamp a stack is approaching and we will be doing one sparkly glittery Christmas card (well 5) and 5 more sombre get well/sympathy cards.

Of course the cards can be modified to make them whatever you want them to be! Date of stamp a stack is 1st of October, same time, same place.

Baby / baptism cards

These first two cards are based on the same layout as the September stamp a stack cards, just with a bit of extra embellishment.

They all use the Nursery Necessities stamp set, with the first two using the current hostess paper pack.

September Stamp A Stack

I can't believe it is almost September already!

We have one Christmas card and one non Christmas project as discussed at the last Stamp night.

See below for the cards. The kids cards in the wagon are all made with the same ingredients and layout but look so different using different papers, stamps and punches. This will let you do your own thing a bit more than previous months if you wish. They don't even need to be kids cards, it could easily be adapted for any other occasion.

The Christmas card has embossing, nice Christmas paper and ribbon.

August Stamp a Stacks

For August I thought we would do one Christmas card and one non-Christmas card for those who can't handle dealing with Christmas this early.

Stamp a stack will be held at my house at 7.30pm on Thursday the 6th of August. Price is $15 for 10 handmade cards or $18 if you would also like envelopes to match. Hope to see you there.

Blackboard Effects

This was an interesting experiment using black card, versamark, daubers and watercolour pastels. It is dusty like a blackboard. I used the stamp sets "Baroque Motifs" and "Live like you mean it" (new hostess set).

Forest Friends Owl

I finally got to use my new set "Forest Friends" from the new mini catalogue. This has the sponging, moon effect from our July stamp a stack with Not quite navy and black background and stamping. The tree needed something so I used dazzling diamonds on the leaves for a nice shimmery effect as well as in the owls eyes. Finished off with white SU Ribbon.

Pink Leggings Brigade

Sorry about the bad photo

This is part of Mica's birthday present - a picture of the three girls at their play date where they all happened to wear the exact same pair of hot pink leggings! I am so glad we got a photo, though it wasn't easy!

I have used the new "Great Friend" stamp set here as well as a flower punch, markers, "Defined Alphabet" stamp set and non-SU ribbon.

Mica's birthday caterpillar

I did a few cards based on the layout
we used for stamp a stack in June
(kids cards). Here are my 3 slightly
different attempts.

Each uses Bugs & Kisses stamps,
Designer series paper,
Scallop punch, markers,
Dazzling diamonds glitter

My Family frame for preschool

We needed to give Jovi a framed photo of her family for preschool. Here is ours.

Used a basic frame, painted the frame pink then used designer series paper on the bottom half (teared). Brocade blue ribbon on the left hand side. One of a kind flower with dazzling diamonds glitter inside. The words are embossed in silver, cut out and glued on. There are also a couple of pearls attached to the right hand side.

July Stamp A Stack

Stamp a stack will be on at 7.30 2nd of July at my house

Please put the first Thursday of the month in your diary as stamp night!

This month the theme will be Man cards and Upsy daisy. I think man cards are the hardest to do so had to balance it up with some pretty flowery cards which can be used for a range of occasions - birthday, thankyou or even sympathy.

Hope to see you there. RSVP 23rd of July.

Upsy Daisy

This is one of my favourite new stamp sets - UPSY DAISY.

It is so quick and easy to make up any kind of female card. I have used it for birthdays and today I am giving the bottom right one to Boston's favourite daycare teacher who is leaving. He will be so sad (if he notices she is gone).

Very simple cards using designer series paper, wide oval and large oval punches, the Upsy Daisy Stamp set and black/barely banana backing cardstock.

Bron's 30th

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRON...

I love this colour combination - Lavender Lace, Elegant Eggplant, Pixie Pink and a dash of Pretty in Pink & Old Olive.

Background is "Kindness" wheel silver embossed. Main stamp set is "Scribble This" coloured with markers with flower sitting up on dimensionals.

Greeting is "One of a Kind". Ribbon is SU white grosgrain and 3 pearls added to top right.

Gift tag was used on present, can be used as a bookmark.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRON.

Gift Card holder crazy

I have been making all sorts of gift card holders. I just love this pattern. It can be turned into any theme. It makes a gift card a bit more special. This is the other idea I had for our next stamp a stack. They are so easy. Follow the link below to see instructions.

http://rsalamon.blogspot.com/2008/10/gift-card-holder-tutorial.html

The inside has a popped out kind of flap where the card sits. There are actually two sides where you could write in the card. These would also be great for Christmas stacks. I tried hard to do a couple of boy cards as they are the most likely to get gift cards - what do you buy them?

Wild About You Boys & Girls

Here is a couple of young kids cards. The lion is in Really Rust and Summer Sun and uses some retired designer series paper, circle punches, twill tape and linen thread.

The elephant is Going Gray with Pretty in Pink. The background is jumbo wheel Kindness in black with white gel pen colouring. Gel pen is also used with mat pack to create the faux stitch look around the elephant. Hostess set Best Yet is used for the wording.

I am thinking about using the elephant one in our next stamp a stack. I think it could be very versatile as a baby card, boys or girls card depending on the colours used.

April Stamp A Stacks

For those who weren't there, here is what you missed from my first ever stamp a stack. It was a one sheet wonder, turned into 9 different cards and a handbag box to keep them in.

Card colours in this one is chocolate chip and rose red with Berry Bliss (retired) designer series paper. Also uses choc chip taffeta ribbon and various stamp sets.
